Greetings from the Departure Lounge in Singapore Airport at the end of what has been the most wonderful holiday.

We just had 2 days in Singapore. Kevin had told us to be sure and visit the Zoo and it was good advice. We spent the whole day there yesterday and walked the legs off ourselves. It's huge and very interactive and progressive. There were a number of "shows" involving the animals aimed at showing what they are capable of and in many cases how their survival is threatened by the actions of man. We were just amazed by the elephants, sealion and polar bear.

They also encourage controlled interaction with the animals and there is a long list of feeding times and also some rides. We got to feed the elephants and giraffe and ride on one of the elephants. Altogether a great experience.

Last night we headed off to the "fountain of wealth" to "touch the waters" for luck (so make sure I'm in the lotto if you're doing it!). We watched the laser light show as well while we ate a tastey cantonese meal. Then we were wrecked so we headed back to enjoy the luxuries of the hotel - boy could we get used to that!

Today was about doing the tours. We did the water and land ones and got a good look at the island. 4.8 million people on an island 45kms wide by 22kms long. The taxi driver on the way to the airport told us the government plan on getting that up to 6! Before that we did the mandatory visit to Raffles Hotel and experienced the famous Singapore Sling.

So here we are heading home with about a thousand photos and five tapes of video - beware of calling round for coffee anytime soon!

We look forward to future opportunities to spend time with you both. It was an absolute pleasure, having you in Aus. You certainly had some variety, from the deep rat/possum/quokka infested south through to the crocodile infested north. We look forward to one day seeing Ireland and having some adventures of our own. We will be looking out for that four leaf clover and small quokkas.
