Where I stayed
RC decided that going to Pensacola would be too much, so we decided to just shun pike our way back to NO.We took the interstate down to south of Montgomery, then went off onto US 31. Somewhere around McKenzie we lost 31 and ended up on Alabama 55. We were making good time, but were headed more east than we wanted. So we went to Andalusia and picke up US 29 that took us to Brewton where we reconnected with our original route on US 31. We took 31 all the way back to the Original Oyster House where we once again had lunch.
After lunch we followed US 90 all the way back to New Orleans. Traffic was heavy along the coast and it wasn't nearly as windy as it had been on Friday. We got back into the New Orleans area and RC suggested that we just continue on 90 to see some AAA designated scenic areas while it was still light, but we had problems getting through town and didn't get out into the scenic area before we lost the light. We did locate gas at a decent price and filled up so we could return the car in the morning with the indicator still on F.
We used the GPS to return to town, unloaded and parked the car on the street behind the resort. We walked in toward town and ate at Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro, a very abbreviated version of the California Cheesecake Factory.
