Where I stayed
Diani Beachalets
We loved Lamu, but decided that due to the Muslim lack of wine/ beer we would attempt to get to Diani in a day (near Tiwi). It was a bit like a Top Gear race, involving a fishing boat, a 50 seater plane, a taxi, an "express coach", another taxi, a ferry, and two Tuc tucs. Door to door in 6 hours- I doubt even Jeremy Clarkson could have beaten us!
We are staying in a Banda next to the beach- excellent value at 2 pounds 50 per person per night. The beach is white sand, empty, and the sun is shining. There is even an internet cafe that works and bars and restaurants nearby.
We are within 6 hours of Dar es Salaam, Dan, so you need not have worried.
I must say that Oliver has been sickly since we arrived. He blames it on 3 yrs of lack of fruit and veg, and says that he is feeling better by the day on his daily diet of fresh fruits. In contrast, his elderly mother is in excellent health. I keep medicating him from my on board pharmacy, but he then complains of the opposite symptoms- I will not go into detail. I put it all down to the lack of stamina in the youth of today

Oliver's health
Glad to hear you have both beach and alcohol!
Do you need me to courier over any medication for Oliver? Seems like a fair exchange for the Carbimazole. It's great to keep up with your adventure.....makes race week at Ascot (and some 'lady' peeing up the side of my car in the carpark at the surgery) very dull!!! Take care all of you, have fun and a cold beer or two, for me

Re: Oliver's health
I have not missed Ascot (races) at all! I usually regard it as a catch up with paperwork opportunity. I bought another 100 carbimazole in Mombasa. I also tried to get coproxamol on the off chance but they dont seem to have it here either.
Oliver seems to be a bit healthier- I must have loaded him with enough vitamins at last!
