Arenal Volcano National Park, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica

Drove to Arenal to see the volcano, but it rained and was cloudy, so never did see it. Couldn't go in the hot water river because the level was too high and it was getting dark, which meant snakes were out. Did have a nice walk around the Los Angeles Cloud Forest, and then got a personal tour of the local orchids by the Forest's owner. In the visitor 'center' there was a framed Costa Rican flag with a picture of the Space Shuttle. Same as the one I had just seen a few days before in Cape Canaveral! Different flag, different mission, but same concept - presented to the owner as a token of gratitude (I think for his preservation efforts).
