As you may have guessed from the title it wasn't the greatest couple of rounds on the course for Craig & Hal. Hal was respectful but faded as the day went on. He never quite recovered from a mysterious bite he got on the 11th hole. I on the other hand was bad all day long. I did manage to save a few wild pars as the ball seems to bounce back in the fairway more often than you might expect from these large trees. In Utah we don't really have trees just bushes and such and the ball never comes back from those. Still I was all over the place and hope that I can put that one behind and that my swing will come back tomorrow. We played the Shirling Nine and the Canyon Nine as Cambrian Ridge and as badly as I played I still loved the course, that should tell you something right there about the quality of the courses we have found so far. I mean at this point its almost impossible for us to pick one that we like the best. We started out on the Sherling Nine and it was absolutely beautiful - big elevation changes large pine and played around Sherling Lake - it was beautiful.

It played slow due to group ahead of us and was a bit frustrating until we met up with Wills. Wills is a local guy who just couldn't let our experience be diminished by this type of behavior, so he call back to his buddies in the pro shop and the next thing you know the offending group ahead of us was told to let us through. We played one more hole with Wills before we let him go on alone, I mean you don't want to hold up an 82 year old man if he has someplace to be. I tell you Wills could still whack it pretty good and was mean around the green with those 12 & 13 woods. He doesn't like the irons much anymore but says that he could hit um in his day and we have know doubt he could. Our only regret is that we forgot to get a picture with Wills for the Blog - Anyhow if this ever gets out on the web far enough to reach back to Wills - thanks buddy for your help,  we moved great the rest of the day and had a wonderful time.  The Canyon course was just as nice as Sherling still lots of elevation changes - not  as many trees but long and hard. All and all Cambrian Ride was another can't miss stop if you are planning a tour. After golf we headed up to Montgomery/Prattville to our next stop here at Capital Hill. Again we have checked out the course prior to checking into a lovely Marriott here on site. It was an easy hour drive - all interstate form Greenville to here and once again our Hertz Never Lost Girl did her job. One slight complication was having to explain to Kimiko on the phone who "that girl is that I can hear in the background, Do I need to tell mom!" That aside the trip was quick and easy. Here are the particulars that "you all" have been asking for:

Course Details(New Feature) - Cambrian Ridge Sherling & Canyon
    Craig          Orange Tees - 6900 Yds - Slope 137          Score 45+41 - 87 - (boo)
    Dad           White Tees  - 6200 Yds - Slope 132            Score 42+46 - 88 - (Not Bad)

Shot of the Day(New Feature) - Hal had the honors with a chip in in front of an astonished Wills for a Birdie on Sherling # 4.

Weather - Mostly Sunny with a little Haze in the am. High around 90 Low around 65, and Humidity holding steady as tolerable. Tomorrow looks to be about the same.  It looks like they need a little rain around here but lets hope they get all they need next week!

Food - We had to change the breakfast routine the as as we didn't have a Waffle House next door - we went to Cracker Barrel and it was OK but I tell you it's no Waffle House. That may have been the down fall in my game. I don't know but I am sticking with it.

We changed our routine and had a quick lunch before heading to Prattville - we went to a new place for both of us - Krystal Burger - we what an experience that was - White Castle in a a Southern Get Up - Its been a long time since the late night trips to the Castle but something is lost in the translation as we grow old and soft and most importantly SOBER.
It is what it is I guess - If you need a late night fix - this may be the place.

Thanks for the replies - I hope we keep getting them - and hear from the shy folks out there.

Love you all and again a special shout to my girls - Dad!

Wills and friends
The Wills guy sounded very interesting...that is the best thing about travel in the good ole' US, you meet some interesting people. I can tell you from traveling the lower 48, Alaska and Canada, I have met some memorable people as well, and they stick in your mind and tell you a little about the great big country we live in. I still can't believe the huge population of Alabama has the courses all to themselves. May be a hot retirement area??? Maybe not, but it still sounds very pretty. Maybe I will have Shjon go to Auburn when he is 18.
Have a good round today gentlemen,
Bobby

Hi Daddy and Grandpa
Grandpa, please try to stay out of the water today! Can't wait for you to be able to get wet in our pool.

Hi Daddy, Can't wait for you to come home - only 3 days left. Make sure you keep Grandpa out of the water and no throwing of rakes. Good luck on your game today. We will be swimming today. It's going to be in the 90's.
Love you-
Kimi and Sami
