Hi Friends and Family,

Today we left Milan and drove to Cremona.  What a gem!  We went to the Town Hall and saw a beautiful collection of Strads, Guarneri and Amati violins, 1 viola and 1 cello.  It was beautiful.  We were all in awe!  The collection here is played on daily from 8-9 by a restoration specialist.  He came today and gave us a performance on a Strad.  It was very sweet sounding.  He barely put any effort into his bow hand and the sound that came out was amazing.  We wanted to see Sam or Katie give it a whirl and give it a run for their money.....The town of Cremona was amazing.  There were many Luthiers in town and we visited several of them.  I even got to play on a local maker's violin.  It was a charming town - one that needed a bit more time.  (perhaps next time)   Most had Pizza/gelato here.  Shops did close for lunch so we were not able to do much damage as we would have liked.  Most just bought postcards with beautiful instruments on them.  It's hard to put into words how beautiful the instruments that we saw were.  It was just breathtaking.  And to know that they are played on a regular basis makes us happy, but jealous all at the same time.

After lunch we were on our way to Genoa.  Most of us fell asleep on the bus and when we woke we were transported to another world.  Everything was lush, green and hilly.  Very different from Milan.  Arrived in Genoa around 6 - checked into the Hotel Bellvue.  Cute hotel with bright colors overlooking the sea. Everyone is very happy with their accomodations.
We met for dinner and walked down together.  Tonight's dinner was bow-tie pasta with tuna, roast pork, and tiramasu for dessert.  (vegetarians got salad and pasta and the dessert)
After dinner - kids had free time to wander - Michael got his street watch (pocket watch for 4 Euro - it's so ugly...no life time guarantee this time though ha ha)
Craig and I went to check out the church for our concert tomorrow night.  We are on a chamber music series.  It's a beautiful church - we can't wait.

Everyone is well - happy - and loving Italy.
Hugs to everyone back home - It's time for bed check !!!!
