DARWIN SUMMARY
Hello again!! It has been a mighty long time... I have now been back in Australia for 2 and a half months, while i have still been having a good time i havent been doing a lot that requires me to write home about!! Therefore, i have just done a brief summary of the last couple of months, most of which involves working my little bottom off with 60 hour weeks, again...
Ok, so i flew back into oz and Darwin. Wasnt sure on my plans to start with, wheter to stay or go down the west coast. As it happens i ended up staying. It was a great decision as Darwin has been buzzing the past two months. It is the best time of year to be here as it is the dry season and everyday i have been here, with the exception of about 10 now, it has been clear blue sky and 30-34 degrees!! Therefore lots of lying by the pool... It has also been full of backpackers, so much so my first night here was nearly on the beach as all the hostels were full. So, i decide to stay and part of that was down to the fact that Siri, who i met in Asia, was coming back out to meet me and carry on travelling together.
Most of my time here was spent working, my main job was in a bar in the centre of Darwin called 'Fox 'n' Fiddle'. This was wicked as met loads of people, got loads of freebies in ways of drinks and entry to places, and also got a good insight to some of the local inbred aussies!! During the days i also spent time working as a kitchen hand, firstly at a school and then at the navy barracks, which was good as got loads of free food!! Yippee
During the job at the school i met a women called jenny, it was quite handy as it worked out she had a room to rent. After taking a quick look i took the room as it was a bargain $80. I rented it with a friend, Anna, i met in the hostels. The house was good, as it had a shared pool and jenny was a diamond as she made us dinner and food a lot of the time. It was however very interesting, with jenny turing out to be a right character and with her and her friends and neighbours we could of easily been in some crazy aussies inbred sitcom!! Was good nonetheless.
Other than that i have had a few crazy nights out, but not too many as have been saving money for travelling. Have met loads of wicked people in Darwin, some of which i will meet again while travelling or when home (wherever home may finally be...)
So, thats what i have been up to. The past week Siri has arrived and we have been catching up and getting ourselves ready to travel the west coast, which we start tomorrow as we are finally leaving Darwin!!! Siri has been suffering from jet lag and keeping me awake half the night, but it is good to have her here and its going to be wicked going down the coast. Have also been watching some wicked sunsets and feeding Possums in our back garden...
And how are we going to be travelling i hear you all shout?!?!? Well, this is were our $2700 signing AJ comes in... Yes we have purchased a campervan, called AJ, which we are doing up nicely and will be travelling the west coast in. He looks a bit like a battered old white van, but he is really a mixture of a van, a house, a party place and a passion wagon!! Hopefully he wont breakdown now...
Anyway, thats about it, i will hopefully be updating this more regular now as i am back on the road travelling, and should be doing more exciting things other than working...
