We jumped on a plane and flew down to San Francisco where we would start our classic American road trip, driving over 4000 miles from "West Side"to “East Side”

And oh my god did we notice the difference between leaving Canada and arriving in the USA. It cemented our view that Vancouver is definitely one of the best cities in the world.

Considering San Fran is supposed to be one the USA's nicest cities, it wasnt a patch on Vancouver.  We were staying in the City Centre and each time we left our hotel we had to battle our way through dozens of drug crazed lunatics lining the streets.  And I’m really not exaggerating here.

The whole city seemed so much busier, so much dirtier and so less friendly than Vancouver.  Saying all of that through, I don’t want to take too negative a view of San Fran.  It is a cool place and I have been here before with the boys and had a cracking time.

We did the standard touristy things, climbed Coit Tower, walked along Fisherman’s wharf and got a really bad photo of the Golden Gate bridge as it was completely covered by fog.

But after two days here, we were itching to just jump in the car and get out of the city and start our mammoth road trip into back-water America to see what adventures we could have.
