Where I stayed
Pension Dimitris
I immediately loved Paros; it is far more laid back than Mykonos, it's a little greener, and it has some really cute little restaurants along the water. It is also smaller so we could see more of the town from where we were staying.
If you go to Paros I would highly recommend Pension Dimitris. It is very cute on the outside with a lovely courtyard area and, with a really good sized room and ensuite, we thought was good value for money. Dimitris is lovely too!
We had a great night with the group the first night at Krios Beach. We had to get a transfer there but it was worth the effort to get out of town. We ate right on the edge of the sand on a pretty well private beach, then chilled out with our drinks on the lounges afterwards. Not for long though because we were pulled up for plate smashing and Greek dancing. Pappas boys, you would have been proud of Craig! He was giving me lessons on the plate smashing technique and was up for all the dancing. We were exhausted at the end but had so much fun and had the big smiles on all the way through it.
We had a nice (dare I say romantic) dinner the second night as well. There were so many restaurants to choose from but I made friends with the owner earlier in the day so we went there. Good food, cheap wine, and we watched the sun set right on the beach. How good are holidays! We are also following Will’s lead and getting in to the Gyros’ - mini kebabs with meat, salad and chips in it for 2 euros! Nicks Hamburgers is also worth a look – New York Times ranked them number one burgers in Europe and we were not disappointed.
Our second day we also jumped on the bus and headed to Naousa, a fishing village on the North of the Island. Very pretty town, we saw lots of octopi drying in the sun, colourful fishing boats everywhere and had a swim at the beach there. Could have stayed another night there very easily.
