Where I stayed
Achille & Maria Pia´s Place (Frasso)
On our way back towards Rome on the west coast we stopped in to see the historic town of Siena. We were pleased to experience Tuscany for one last visit.
SIGHTS & SOUNDS:
The old town of Siena is perched up on a hill. Parking is so scarce that they have set up shuttle buses from dedicated parking lots outside the city walls. We walked through the large gates and up the main cobblestone hill then down into the town window shopping and taking photos.
The 12th &13th century buildings give way to a large oval piazza that assumes the natural angle of the hill creating a massive auditorium. Perfect for town meetings...or a ROCK concert!
FOOD & DRINK:
We were the only ones in the restaurant this time and while Eli had 'fusilli' a la Bolognese, Mia had gnocchi with gorgonzola and walnut sauce. On our way out we stopped for a gelato, strangely even though it was quite chilly. We were glad we did with the fresh lemon and coconut flavours competing over our tastebuds with the rich chocolate and caramel.
ALSO:
We continued on our way south to Frasso to stay with some Italian relatives outside of Rome.
