On the 24th I slept in while the others did a plant walk on the island. When i finally got up and went to find them, I scared a giant monitor lizard off the trail. It zoomed off into the bush fast. Eventually our time came to leave the island. We made our way to the mainland, to the border, across the ferry, got the van and headed south. We camped at a safari camp in the middle of nowhere, Botswana.
We woke the next morning and continued south with a stop in Francistown to stock up on food. I got some sandals repaired on the street and found delicious 12 ounce cans of Guiness with the nitro ball in them. There were quite pricey.
We finally made it to Gaberone, the capital, where we were to stay with an old acquaintence of Frank's, Charles, who is also a friend of the folks who run the Bovu Island resort. He's into real estate and has a grand house in the bush outside the suburbs. Charles opened up his house and his heart. He might as well be a professional entertainer.
We had a fine time that night, and I got a nice swim in the pool.
