This weekend we decided to take a short trip to Nuremberg, Germany.  They have one of the biggest Christmas Markets around, not to mention beautiful architecture.  What we didn't know is that they are also home to these cute little mini brats that they serve on buns with kraut....undoubtedly the best we have had.  We would buy them from street vendors every time we saw them because they aren't easy to find everywhere.

A little history on Nuremberg...It was, unfortunately, chosen by Hitler as the site for his Nazi rallies of the 1930's and he named his infamous laws on racial purity after the town.  In retribution, it was leveled during WWII.  The old town section has been restored since then so it looks ancient, even if it's new by German standards.

Admittedly, we did not spend the time in Nuremberg that we should have.  We've been pretty worn out between Mike's crazy work schedule and traveling.  We slept in Saturday morning and didn't get there until around 3 or 4 pm.  In the winter here, most things are closed by then.  The weather was really bad - kind of a blinding wet snow - and it was so cold.  We headed straight for the Christmas Market to do some last minute Christmas shopping, ate a wonderful dinner, and went back to the hotel.  Sunday morning we had my favorite breakfast ever - Nutella Crepes.  Usually, Mike and I split meals, but I wanted my own crepe that morning....my eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach, though.  I ate almost the whole plate and haven't been able to look at a crepe since then without feeling sick.

We walked around Nuremberg for a few more hours and mainly just did a lot of Christmas shopping.  Neither of us really enjoy shopping all that much, but it was a great place to get a bunch of gifts for people back home.  We swung by Wurzburg on our way home, but really only stayed long enough to add another gluwein mug to Mike's collection.
