28th Feb:
After waking reasonably early (I still don't know how to spell that bastard word, someone help me out), me and Nick went for a Subway meal, and Stevo had a Burger King. We then went down to the market which is cheap as chips, and I unfortunately made another impulse buy of some 3/4 length Stussy shorts, but they only cost a fiver!
Checked out of our hotel and made our way to the Bus Station!
I did enjoy Singapore, though I almost found it too clean and efficient. I don't like ultra-clean places which thanks to my Mum has not been a problem at home, and so I felt uncomfortable, and as Steve put it 'Even the dust-carts are immaculate'!
The other problem with Singapore is the cost of living, which I suppose is cheaper than London, but still expensive on a budget! Though the government must be making a fortune on fines, as they fine you for everything: Spitting, Smoking, Chewing Gum, Urinating, Dropping Litter, and probably Farting, Sweating and Blowing your Nose!
I am thinking though that there were obvious signs that I might end up living in Singapore. Literally signs of which there is an area called Somerset, within which there is a Stevens Road, and a Middle Road. Coincidence, I think Not!!!!!!!!
We boarded the bus, and what a bus! Reclining seats, Footrests, Air-Con, and T.V. Excellent stuff! The journey was great with Malaysia being such a luciduous country, with greenery everywhere with what looks like pine trees lining the roadsides, and mountains of green everywhere you look. The journey was only slightly marred by an accident we witnessed, where a motorcyclist was hit by a car, and it looked like he may have been dead. He was led under his bike not moving, but other than that it was great!
Quite surprised to see how high-tech Kuala Lumpur or as it is known by everyone KL really is. This is 2nd to Singapore in the technology stakes, but it must be a close second! Neon lights everywhere!
We got off the bus and went to the first hostel we saw, Anuja Guest House, where we have an air-con room, between us 3 and a Canadian girl we met, Leah. She is from Ottawa, though I don't know how close that is to Edmonton, and I could not remember the exact location of where my sister and bro-in-law live. Could somebody let me know?
We showered (not together) then went for a Chinese in the street, before going to a Reggae bar, and shooting pool (Me & Leah lost to Steve & Nick), and drinking beer. Took a few beers back to the rooftop garden of the hotel, and supped a few there, and all in all a good night, and a good start to Malaysia!
