Part two of my hatched plan was to hit a beach on the East coast so Neil (and I) could get a swim in the ocean. It was cloudy though and we decided to cut our losses and head directly west as I need to drop Neil of at a mates house in Hamilton tomorrow morning. We ended up in Raglan, which I suppose is like London's Brighton, about 40 kilometres away. We pitched camp, I went into town for a box of red to keep me going and the sun came out. So we had a swim (6.30pm ish). We've just had half or three quarters of an hour chucking a ball at each other in a warm (not Mediterranean but warmer than the UK sea) natural harbour. 22 days in and we've at last managed to lark about a bit in the ocean. Not sure I'll ever get used to this black sand though! It always seems so dirty....

Agree about the sand - at least they haven't tried to camoflage it like they do in Tenerife with imported golden sand - gross - glad the swim was achieved though!

Have now gone one better and had fabulous swim on beach of golden sand with warm (ish) water and real breakers! In the sunshine! Fantastic...

It's not real until you've updated the blog and told us about it, preferably with photographic evidence, so less of the carefree gallivanting & crack on...!

Hey, I know a writer should give his public what they want but go easy will you?!?!

Where would we all be if my camera got wet? You'd be completely in the dark then Becks.
