I quote from the directions that David emailed to Jane:

"You are now on a narrow mountain road   EXTREME CARE !!"

and

"YES you can drive up !!!! Get Phil to put it into first and race it !!  "

Now I quote Jane:

"Oh bloody hell".

To all those who warned us about the steepness of the drive - yes, you were right.  But despite the Pug having carried us and a veritable car load of supplies down the entirety of Spain and Portugal, she made it!  Trouble is, Jane's now refusing to go back down...

David's villa is lovely.  Beautiful house, stunning views, fine hospitality.  Absolutely wonderful.  I write this under the shade from the vine covered pergola while Jane has a little siesta by the pool.

Sadly, we have to leave tomorrow as we are booked into the Alhambra at Granada.  Better have another swim, I think, before we move on....
We took David out for a meal to thank him for his hospitality and at his "local" restaurant (about 15 minutes down the valley including "that" driveway!) he recommended the T-bone steak, which he suggested should suffice for the two of us. Well, just have a look at the picture! What a great steak - and cooked to perfection by ourselves. I think that the seven accompanying vegetables were a tad over the top though...

The wait for the next installments was definitely worth it - clearly some fabulous sights ticked off there. Not sure I can cope with the Alhambra after that lot! That is, of course, if you make it safely back down the drive...Good luck! x

Reading your blog makes one a little envious, especially as it has been torrential rain here today. It all looks pretty amazing except for the very steep drive { as you know Jane I would have been curled up on the floor, probably crying!!!}
We had a lovely weekend up in Yorkshire at Lou and Jims, long walks in the Wolds and long lunch stops in country pubs.
Good luck for the rest of your journey xx
