We'd booked our second week's respite at the "Oliva Beach Resort", some distance South of Valencia. After a good long drive from Granada, we approached our resort through the town of Oliva and both immediately thought we'd made a big, big mistake. Not somewhere either of us thought we wanted to spend any time! Having said that, we did, on the occasion of finishing the last of our Tetley "extra strong" teabags, brought from home, find the Oliva branch of Quick Save (no spelling mistake!) fantastic and have replaced said item with good old Yorkshire teabags! Enough to see us through to home, I trust...
But the resort we'd booked is on a golf complex, 4 km out of town and is absolutely fine. We have an apartment from which we can walk straight out to the pool and the beach is about 100 metres away.
Even better, on Monday, the resort built a beach bar for us. We're off just now to see if the beer delivery has arrived....

Blimey,
it seems ages since I put finger to keyboard and I suppose it is
really. Oliva Golf Resort turned out to be really nice. We had a
lovely apartment – as previously noted – and the weather turned
out pretty warm so we had what we'd hoped for, a week chilling and
recharging the batteries for the next onslaught of tourist sites
(which includes Barcelona! [Some of you will perhaps know that I'm
not that enamoured with Barcelona but it's on the itinerary so we're
doing it!])

We
spent this “respite week” getting the laundry done, taking long
walks on the beach – which generally – no, correction, always –
ended up somewhere for a late morning Cafe con leche followed by an
early afternoon Cerveza, and basically chilling. Towards the end,
Jane was doing “dry hair” laps of the pool with Caroline who, it
transpired, was a really nice down to earth “owner” at this
particular resort and, as a result, we ended up on our last evening,
sitting in a bar with six other “locals” enjoying a really nice
time catching up on all the news from Oliva Golf Resort Owners
Association (or whatever they might call themselves!!)

By
Saturday, we are chilled and it's time to move on......

Becks on

First it's too wet, now it's too hot, then the architecture of the Alhambra isn't up to scratch...No pleasing some people, is there?! Let's hope the beer DID arrive, has been satisfactorily chilled and hits the spot! Keep it coming, the pics are fab and - apart from it sounding waaay too hot for me - I'm definitely jealous x
