Sze has a not-so-secret obsession with alpacas. We decided to take a day trip to Salt Spring Island so that we could visit an alpaca farm. This involved renting two vans and getting 13 people to the ferry on time. We failed the first round and had lunch in Sidney to kill two hours as we waited for the next ferry. It took us two hours to eat lunch and we almost missed the 1 o'clock ferry too.

Once we got on the island we headed to the visitors center to find out where the alpacas live. The brochure they had said that the alpaca farm was open from Wednesday to Monday. It was Tuesday, which meant the farm was closed. The visitors center staff person told us to try them anyway. We called and they said to come on by anytime before 4pm. We jumped into the vans and zoomed off for a date with the alpacas. You've gotta love flexible island folks who open the door to visitors on their day off.

After the alpacas we went back to the town of Ganges to look at the shops and to eat gelato. Then we went to a pretty park to watch the children play. Back to the ferry and once again just missing it, we headed back to Vancouver Island.
