we started the morning late and got hungry around 11ish so got ready, hailed a cab out to the international district in search of dim sum. our recommended dim sum place, the Ho Ho Seafood Restaurant (I kid you not, that's a real name) *did not* serve dimsum but we managed to find ourselves at the Sun Ya Seafood restaurant in the same area for some yummy dim sum.
the dim sum was decent, best dish were the yam cakes but the variety and diversity of dishes were so-so. good nontheless but pales in comparison to what we had in vancouver.
after dim sum, we walked around the international district and found our way to the Uwajiyama market which was adjacent to one of the most awesome bookstores ever, the Kinokuniya bookstore. Uwajiyama is sort of like a Mitsuwa, to you Californians out there, a Japanese/Asian grocer filled with lots of Japanese food and groceries, along with gifts and all sorts of Japanese cookware/dinnerware. The Kinokuniya bookstore was AWESOME. Lots of import movies, manga, asian-related literature and children books. A must visit if you're asian and in Seattle. :)
after browsing for what seemed like hours in Kinokuniya and Uwajiyama, we hopped into a cab and headed for the Victrola coffee shop in Capitol Hill. we wanted to check out the gay neighbourhood and the Victrola seemed interesting enough. It's a cool little indie coffeeshop with lots of awesome art on the walls. we then spent some time walking the neighbourhood, admiring the beautiful homes surrounded by green trees.
a few hours later, both of us were getting all sleepy-like so we decided to head back to the hotel for some rest.
dinner beckons and it's time to head out for some sushi. we decided to check out a recommended sushi place by Lake Union called aptly, "I love Sushi". The sushi was fresh, service was good, view was super. We sat outside right by the water, and had yummy sushi while watching bi-planes land on the water.
in all, a rather good day. a little more subdued then yesterday but it was just so nice spending the day at a more leisurely pace.
tomorrow, we head back home to orange county!
