I I left my home in Asia this morning... ready for a 26 hour journey... flew to the European side of Istanbul for a 2 hour layover... soaked in the last bit of Turkish culture before hopping a 12 hour flight to North America... landed in Chicago, Illinois... acclimated through a bit of culture shock while navigating through the industrial designed airport... loud and ugly... took a train to the domestic terminal... skipped onto a quick flight to Minneapolis, Minnesota... was picked up by my dad... crashing at his house for a night... hopefully sleeping through a bit of jetlag...
A few Jet lagged thoughts...
smiling friends... warm hugs... soft words... watered eyes...
early rising... sound of prayers... minerets piercing the sky...
winged time machine...
airport shuffling... like playing chess... positioning... maneuvering... placement... patience......... repeat... positioning... maneuvering... placement... patience............... again... positioning... maneuvering... placement... patience......... arrival... Checkmate?
Asia, exotic... Europe, orderly... North America, abundance...
pide to pizza --- Turkish chai to Starbucks coffee...
the crescent and the star to the stars and stripes...
perspectives: Order to chaos... chaos to Order... Which one first?
my grandfather's eyes on my father's face...
sleep... dreaming in turkish... waking to english...
