We spent our Kurban Bayram holiday in Istanbul, with our very dear friends Carsten and Christina... We have been meeting up with them in many countries around the World and were very excited to see them again. Each time we get together it is like no time has passed, a sure sign of true friends.
We had many days of walking the winding streets, entering the ancient monuments and best of all sitting in the cafes and restaurants catching up on each other's lives... and planning our next rendezvous...
Highlights include listening to Cristina's stories of her children's antics and personality traits... Watching the Carsten's hang out and laugh together... little Carsten, not so little anymore, really likes his Big namesake and loves his funny stories... having coffee with the Rosendahl's one morning, as we left our boys in the hotel room... my early morning walks as I grabbed my camera and captured the world in black and white... collective coffee and ice cream at Modo cafe... evening walks down Istiklal Cadessi, THE shopping street in Istanbul... eating at the old flower market and sipping raki and munching on freshly smoked fish, an Istanbul favorite... traversing the old streets near the golden horn while hiking up to Galata Tower... listening to Big Carsten's business adventures in exotic locations around the globe... the sloshing of of shoes during my early morning run in the rain as most of the city slept soundly... watching Aidan's fun loving ways as he laughed and joked with most everyone he came in contact with, seeing Deb and Christina hook arms and laugh and share their womanly ways as they created some distance from the four boys... walking the cavernous halls of the history museum while viewing treasures from the ancients... and most of all, of course, and without hesitation, spending time with our dear friends Christina and Carsten... as they are some of our most cherished treasures...
