We had a little time before having to leave for the airport this morning so we decided to do a little shopping. We had done some shopping this week at the friendly store where Cory bought me a pearl necklace and some Lotus tea. When put in boiling water, the balls of tea open up into a beautiful flower. Not only are they beautiful they are delicious too.

Today we decided to go to the Street Market. The hard sell is difficult but part of the exciting experience of shopping in a market in China. I found a beautiful silk kite and started bargaining. I had seen one at the friendly store so I was basing the price on that. After talking her into a morning price then she tried to talk me into buying another kite. As we left she looked defeated and I felt really guilty. That is the fine line between gaining the respect of the seller by bargaining a good price and doing too well and shaming the seller. At this point I wasn't sure what to do.
On our way back to the hotel we saw a toddler with the butt pants. The kids over here wear pants that are split down the back for easy "evacuation" They are the cutest thing! Little kids with their bums showing. I guess it helps with the potty training but something so different than what we see here in the states. I wanted a picture so badly but was afraid I would look like a pervert trying to take a picture of a kids bum.

This was our first real encounter with the group on our tour. They were much worse than the people on the tour we took to Egypt and I am glad that we have done most of this independently. There are so many negative energies with this group. Such loud voices too. The negativity was almost palatable.

We flew from Beijing to Shanghai. We are staying in the Holiday Inn Downtown Shanghai. We got here pretty late and I was pretty exhausted from just the few hours with the group. Cory and Jeremiah went out to look for something to eat. I was just too exhausted. Ron came back to the room with some fruit from some street vendors and Kentucky Fried Chicken. This was the only "American" meal I had in China but I just didn't have the energy to hunt down any food. Cory and Jeremiah ended up eating at the restaurant there in the hotel. www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCUdLFL4Ars

I am getting to bed early enough tonight to be well rested enough to tackle Shanghai tomorrow.
