Just talked to my Dad on Skype. He is itching but doing so good. He amazes me every day. He is looking forward to us taking a Disney Cruise together. Hopefully it won't be too long.

After I got back from the cruise a little bad luck followed. My new lap top totally crashed. Our washing machine crapped out, my brothers washing machine crapped out, the plumbing had problems at my moms house and Missouri had some nasty weather but we felt so lucky. Dad was alive and doing so much better than the prognosis.

Cory and I went to St. Louis to see Dad. He was still in the coma in the Burn ICU. It was so frightening to see him like that. During those silent 5 and a half weeks our family felt the huge void he left. It was so hard seeing him all wrapped up like a mummy with machines doing his breathing for him. He was still in the coma for Thanksgiving but we had a lot to be thankful for. He had 4 skin graft surgeries but all of them went better than the doctors expected. After over a month they started to bring him out of the coma and take him off of the ventilator.

I was lucky enough to get to be there when he left the burn ICU to go to the Rehab Center at the beginning of December. The Rehab was rigorous but he remained positive and so patient. He was in the hospital through Christmas and New Years but we finally got to bring him home the first week of January. I spent two weeks in Sikeston getting him settled in at home. While there Moms fridge stopped working and some kid backed into her car but no one was hurt. Funny how the little things seem so much bigger when you don't have something bigger going on. Just having Dad alive and well makes everything seem small.

I heard from my credit card company and the all of the charges from the Peru trip were credited to my account. Guess everything has worked out for the best! The trip we didn't take to Peru will always be one I remember

March 7, 2011.... Looks like this story isn't over yet. Discover Card justed reversed the credit for the land portion of the Peru trip. I haven't given up yet. I wrote a letter to David Nelms the CEO of Discover Card siting that due to several issues with my dispute I thought Discover had dropped the ball and therefore the loss was due to their negligence. We will see where it goes from there. This trip to Peru is lasting longer than any trip I actually got to take.
