When we finally made it back to Aix Les Bains our hosts were pretty worried about us. We assured them that we were okay. They asked if we had problems getting in. To get in and out of Hotel Thermal after hours there is a code. We explained that we had missed our train and spent the night in St. Gervais and they were much relieved.
We went back to the room, cleaned up, changed clothes and headed back to the train station. Today is all about Annecy.
Annecy is a city in the Rhône-Alpes region of east central France, on the shores of Lake Annecy, 22 miles south of Geneva. Some call it the Venice of France because it is full of canals that take you right up to the steps of the villas. It is so beautiful and full of historic buildings and breathtaking views. Cory and I were having a fantastic time in Annecy but we had a job to do. We had to find a gift for our dog sitter. We passed the window of a pottery shop. They had the most beautiful pottery inside. We greeted the woman inside and she started to tell us all about the pottery. Hand made there in Annecy by a local artesian. We picked out a hand made pitcher for our neighbor. Truly beautiful work.
We continued enjoying the sites of Annecy but my favorite moment involved chocolate...doesn't it always. We were passing a chocolatier. Inside was an older gentleman that engaged us in conversation and offered us a taste of his delicious chocolate. He spoke only French and we spoke only English but we managed to connect over chocolate. I would point, say deu, he would say wee and then point out one of his favorites which we would order two of. What a wonderful man and what wonderful chocolate. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qRZbZAba0M
