The weather has improved remarkably, the wind dropping from the 40 knot+ from yesterday as we set off on the sailing vessel "Captain Yannis". We departed Amoudi Wharf and motored to Nea Kameni, the volcano island, where we saw the evidence of eruptions dating back to 1630 BC.
That first eruption was 70 times larger than Krakatoa in Indonesia and produced a tsunami 250m high!
The most recent eruption was in 1950 and even today we could see hot steam venting from the ground. After an hour or so walking over the lava flows we motored on to some hot springs where hardier folk than us braved an icy plunge into the sea to reach the warm springs.(Hey we're used to tropical waters!)
Soon we moored at Thirasia Island for a couple of hours for lunch and Mythos at waterfront tavernas which are still much as they were 50 years ago.
Tomorrow is our last day here so we are making the most of the sun, as the forecast for Italy is bloody freezing

Captain John
I'd go Captain Johns to avoid a serious problem.
