Hey - guess what - a boat trip! But the sun was shining and Lucy was better.  We set off on a bus to the north of the island to catch our luxury cruiser.  Once on board we headed off at a very leisurely pace - any slower and I could have swum quicker.  Anyhow, the sun was shining, the scenery was stunning and the frigate birds joined us for a while. 

Once we arrived at the island, which is really a very large uninhabited rock, we were met with the calls of the sea lions.  The island is a breeding area and each male defends his little cove where he keeps his women and children safe - they are huge and very noisy. The male sea lions that is!!

The islandīs landscape is unlike any I had seen on the other islands - itīs quite exposed and therefore no lush greenery, just these vibrant red and yellow plants and lots of the cactus trees, but not at the height they grow to on other islands. 

The main attraction of Plaza Sur is the Land Iguanas, unique to that island and a species I hadnīt seen before.  And it wasnīt long before we started spotting them in the undergrowth.  We had a guided walk around the island, saw many iguanas, finches and other sea birds nesting in nooks on the cliffs on the east side - the sea was crashing against the side.

We popped back on the boat and cruised round to the snorkelling spot, which was far more inviting than the previous day - no horrid currenst and crystal clear waters.  We saw a whole load of marine life, including more white tipped sharks.  Another good day out.
