Working at the Habitat for Humanity site has been a lot of work but also fun.  The great thing about this project is that we have local workers, local volunteers, and volunteers from all over the world working together.  Its been a great way to learn about local customs and meet new people!

Monday 6.18.2012
Started with housekeeping and went to the site in the afternoon.  Fortunately was able to Tango with my family and wish my dad a Happy Father's Day (it was 9pm their time Sunday).  The site had a very strong sun that day so I think I was lucky.  We did leveling which is carrying bags of dirt to make a floor level.  The locals made a nice little shaded tent and filled bags while we ran them back and forth in the sun.  I think they were being clever!

Worked on the Septic Team!  This was Adam's last day on site and he was still very patient in helping me learn what to do.  We chiseled, put plumbing in, and made the lid of a septic.  This was probably my favorite day so far because I liked the different steps to make each goals.

Wednesday 6.20.2012
Worked on what was called the 'punchlist' team.  Up on a site that was finished we were going through and making sure each house was ready.  This meant removing things left behind by workers, sweeping, changing locks, and anything else we could think of.  I enjoyed the sweeping in certain patterns to get all the dust out!  I fortunately was wearing a bandana because I used it to cover my face.  I also met an adorable kitten at the site.  I usually never touch animals on the street but it was super adorable so I did play with it (and sanitized!).

Punchlist and leveling!  For punchlist I helped take down a structure that was left outside.  This was fun because we got to destroy!  At lunch I stayed at the building site though because all we had left to do was replace doorknobs and we only had enough tools for one person to do it.  In the afternoon I did more leveling.  Leveling isn't too bad, but I'm glad when I do it it is only half days!
