Got to Calama and found the next bus to Salta in Argentina is leaving in 4 days time. It appears we didn´t factor in that january is Chile and Argentina´s summer holiday time and the whole country has booked themselves onto the entire bus network. Bummer.

Time to scrap plan of going into northern Argentina, it was probably rubbish anyway, we keep telling ourselves, and turn around, back onto the Pan-American highway and get south to Santiago, a mere 24 hour bus ride away. From there we can cross the border to Argentina to Mendoza, the heart of Argentine wine country and somewhere we´ve been looking forward to visiting. Going to have our own ´sideways´experience. hahaha.
