Monday morning started and while the majority of the world was off to sit in an office and play on the internet we were off to play in the amazon river. We paddled off in a canoe exploring another dark recess of the jungle. Don showed us more types of plants and trees that are used by local people as medicine. The saber tree has roots as wide as people. The bamba tree has a hollow trunk and when you hit it the wood resonates into a lovely deep bass sound. It was a form of communication used by locals, 2 hits for dinner's ready, 3 hits for it's fresh gringo on the menu! haha. We built a really cool indigenous trap, walked through mud puddles and smacked a lots of mozzies.

After lunch we took a paddle canoe into a nearby lagoon. We had to crouch down avoiding low lying branches and foliage while boogely woogelies fell out of the trees and onto our heads. We paddles around and spotted another anaconda, this time he saw us first and dipped into the water, coming towards us. We sat in canoes carved out from whole logs so there was only 5cm of wood separating us from the water.

We saw the stinky turkey bird, looked just like a turkey but it could fly clumsily and lop-sided, didn't find out about the stinky part.

The next morning we said our goodbyes to the crew, the company was called Dracena if your in the mood for a jungle visit, and cruised off down the river.
After 4 hours we board a bus for heading for the nearest town to get on the main road heading dor Lago Agria. Our bus had to stop halfway due to some locals who had dug a ditch in the road were burning some tyres. We had to pick our way through the flames to cross the bridge before getting on another bus.

Back to civilisation tomorrow to wash our stinky, sweaty jungle rags. Well actually some poor launderette owner will be inflicted with the task of cleaning our rotten clothes.
