So, back to Saigon, a little tired and emotional after the homestay, Cu chi tunnels and all the war talk.
A little down time and all dressed up in tailored clothes, (well, some of us), new market bargains and set off for our last big night as a group. Thought we were going for fancy drinks on the Rex Hotel rooftop, but taxis took us to a cafe for dinner.  Some time later walked  thru the rain again, dampening hairdo's to the Rex, where we ascended for the fancy drinks after all.  Bit shocked to finally pay about 6 bucks for a strawberry juice!  Seems prices were preparing us for home and reality!
A strange Spanish sounding middle-of-the-road band was confusing me into thinking I was back in Peru maybe.  Drinks were a little subdued, maybe we were a bit sad to be ending like this.
We gathered for our final group photo, said goodbyes to those we were able to let go of tonight, and home to bed.
A few hurried goodbyes over brekkie to Antoinette, Meredith & Glenda, and to Sue.  Then Dat who was heading north to begin another tour.
The team was diminishing.  More marketing, a few bargains, then followed our NEW team leader to lunch in an air-conditioned plaza.  So funny following Amir of the raised arm and "follow me", halting traffic along the way to accommodate our meandering group.  Exuberant lunch with Matt, Gemma, Sylvana, Amir and Mike, Dan & Mary (want to take all these guys home!).
Moving trip to the War Remnants Museum, with shocking documentary photos of the havoc between USA and Vietnam.  Reminders of the heartache caused by Napalming and Dioxin. Group of children and affected others by the door collecting money to benefit the ongoing victims of these atrocities.
Back to the hotel to meet up with Mary & Dan for the last time, lovely to be shouted a coffee to say goodbye.  Like leaving family behind.  And to Michael, Matt & Gemma, but we know we'll see them again!
Our planned meeting to say goodbye to Syl and Amir didn't happen, we had to leave for the airport!!
Standing in the check-in queue, when, like a scene from a movie!!!  comes Sylvana running to us at full pelt!!  So good to see them, like we'd been parted for a life-time haha  Time enough now for planning a re-union and onto the plane where once again like deja-vu or groundhog day were kept awake all night by a child from hell!!
Arrived back to teeming rain, flooding and a big need for sleep!!
Such a good trip, such great new friends!  Thanks everyone!
Now, to planning the next one!

Hi Brenda and Michael and all - great to read your message about the last night in Saigon. Brings it all back. Hope you are both well and settled back! We;re in Hoi An and it's just pouring rain for the past two days. We've been kept busy with visits to tailors, fittings etc. but are going back to Saigon on Sunday for 3 nights before we depart. The rain will probably follow us! Enjoyed the few days there already. Went to the War Museum and like yourself found it really shocking. We are gluttons for punishment because we're going to My Lai tomorrow.
Really enjoyed the trip. It was great meeting you all - great company and all lovely people. It seemed strange when you were all gone - quite sad.

All the very best
