From fussen I cought an incredibly scenic train to Innsbruck in western Austria. A small city situated in a valley surrounded by the Austrian Alps. The city itself is beautiful, full of baroque buildings nice riverside parks, cafes and shops.

However the reason most backpackers come to innsbruck is for the surrounding mountains. I met some other people in the hostel (Cathy and her friend, james?) and we decided to join the free daily hike. The city of Innsbruck, for free, provides you with hiking boots, a bus up to the mountains and a guide for a five hour hike along mountain paths, little houses and forest. The only real catch is that you are sort of encouraged to buy something at the little mountain restaurant at the rest stop - not so bad!

Innsbruck is another place where the pictures tell a lot more than words can, so ill try and get pictures up before i return home.. ;)

(ok that's my excuse for not really remembering everything right now)

We did go out for dinner one night and i had yum carbonara.

next stop salzburg..
