This is the longest day at 13 miles, but also the last day. It's a half marathon. I'm still positive and happy, though now I have a blister on each foot, but they are fine.
It's raining as we set out. I decided on day 1 that I didn't need to wear a jacket as most of the way the trees were shelter.
By the boat house (5 mile) I was really wet. There were a lot of avalanche sites, thus no cover. So time for a quick change, to dry clothes and a jacket this time. Then off Rena and I went again, only 4 miles until lunch.
About 2 miles before lunch my ipod ran out of battery, it had kept the pace for the last 2 days. On well it will go with my watch which died just before the Boat house. Like is said I was very wet.
Onwards we pushed to Giant's fall and lunch. It's almost over and that's a good thing. At this stage my feet hurt and I'm tired of the rain.
Just before lunch the sun came out and we all dried out for lunch which increases the spirits.
Rena and I are still walking at 2 mils an hour, which is an ok pace, (quite good if you think we have already walked 30 miles in the last 3 days).
After lunch we have just 3.5 mils to walk, watching for the mile markers to keep us going. We missed the 32 mile mark and were a little worried that we would never get there. Until we ran into some other people who said there was just 1 mile to go, and we had 45 mins, before the 15:15 boat left.
We were so happy to see the Sandfly point hut. It was all over and we had made the 15:15 boat to Mitre Peak Lodge.
The boat to a hot shower, cold beer and a washing machine. No more walking so finally we could enjoy a beer without worry about the next day.
So it was beer, wine and trip to the local pub for us.
