Wow, I slept like a rock last night. Today should be great! We're about to get in the car to head off to the Capital Building. I can't wait to learn more about William Taft and the 16th Amendment. Everyone is always talking about taxes, and it will be interesting to know when and how all of this controversy got started. Well, here we are...

Wow, the paintings on the ceiling are beautiful. It's so big and open. Our tour guide is talking about William Taft. I feel rude typing away on my blackberry while she's talking. I'll update a bit later...

That tour was the best yet! We learned so much about William Taft and the 16th Amendment. I learned that he introduced it on July 12th 1909. The idea of the 16th Amendment was to put a federal tax on the Americans, including businesses and corporations. It was quickly ratified and in 1913 it became a part of the U.S. Constitution as the Sixteenth Amendment. Taft shortly left office afterwards. The 16th Amendment still effects people today. There is a lot of controversy over paying too much in taxes these days.
My advice is for presidents is to not raise taxes to much and put the correct amount per income they get.
