Completed 2 whirlwind trouing days of St Petersburg Russia. Saw such opulence, displays of wealth and splendour. Very beautiful but almost too much. The city is crossed by more than 100 canals ande there are more palaces than one can name. No wonder the Romanov dynaasty was overthrown! Experienced wonderful food - borscht was great & fantastic pies - both savory & fruit. Used SPB as our travel agency for a group of 16 and I am glad we did - they were great. Our tour guide was Katya. Didn`t plan an evening outing & glad we didn`^t as the 2 days of touring was all we could handle. Its the white nights (also known as red sails - when the kids graduate from high school) but we really couldn`t participate as we left the evening that the activities started.Weather is starting to improve.
Did you know that St Petersburg only gets 60 days of sunshine a year - yikes! On to Helsinki tomorrow.
