So today started out with the tour lady yelling at me because I was 4 minutes late getting to the bus. She obviously doesn't know me. That means I was early. Really? 4 minutes? She stood there and counted? Whatever.

We drove through really windy roads, past unbelievable poverty, and then stopped at a restaurant and had lunch. They were clearly not ready for us, but the food was good. If you want hot water and some kind of cocoa leaf tea, it was free. Anything else, including real water from a bottle where you don't get sick, you pay for it. OK. I'll pay.

Back on the bus up the mountain, to a couple of stops where there are real Inca Indians. These people still live like 200 years back. Seriously. It's amazing. Their skin is tanned so dark and no cancer. Go figure. We are wimps I guess. No dermatologists either. Maybe that's it. Amazing clothing though. Right out of history books. They walk around carrying lambs and stuff. Don't ask me why. Got the photo to prove it though. Cute kids. Really, really dirty, but so cute.

Then, up to the Steps. And I do mean steps. I walked UP more than 300 steps, to the Mountain of the Sun and the Moon. And it is like 600, because they are double heights. It nearly kicked the butts of the young people in the group, but I really did drag my happy butt up there, and I have the photos to prove it. This was built over 2,000 years ago. Incredible. By hand. But that isn't as incredible as me dragging myself up there, and then back down. There is a shot of me at the bottom. OMG!

Then we drove an hour and a half back to Cusco, and I'm back at the hotel. Thank heavens. Starving, but need a shower first. Restaurant is sounding pretty good right now. Have to pack, because tomorrow is the Orient Express train up to Machu Pichu. More walking.

I will admit one fall today. Add that to the fall two days ago, and that makes two. Head has to bumps, one broken toe, and one busted knee. Not bad for 8 days. Balance is a wee bit off. But, still upright.

Still missing everyone I love. A lot. Hard to do this without having someone to share it with. At least I come back and write to you all at night.

Till tomorrow. . .
