Its amazing what the rain can do to people! It seems you either get drunk, try to swim or you play silly games.  We did a mixture of all three!  I think Conor was playing lets drive past the rain and we headed up further north towards Surfers Paradise.  After the knee deep water in Byron, the really heavy rain in Tweed we were'nt expecting better weather here either.

Once your on the Gold Coast its high rise all the way.  At night everything is in neon and it looks pretty cool.  Its very resorty with lots of high rises for the usual package holiday-makers.  The centre itself is nice and the so is the beach.  Its hard to make out all of these things in the rain though, it gets hazy and rain gets in your eyes and it hurts! Even tho its never really below 25 degrees and you'd think the rain would be nice to cool down in its not, its really really sore! We went to the beach but the rain was too heavy so we just sat outside a pub for a cool brew ( i know!) waiting on the rain to stop.  After two days of this Conor had, had enough of shoe shops, surf shops, sushi shops, jewellery shops, clothes shops and shops in general so we prayed for sun - while reading all the books for free in the bookshop! What else can you do on a rainy afternoon?  We awoke to a fab sunshine day and were up dressed and showered and it was only 7.30am!!

Off to Wet n Wild with us - the water park.  Probably the stupidest thing you can do after 5 days of rain and the first sign of sunshine you leg it to a water park but heh when the sun does shine its mingin hot.  It was already 28 degrees at this stage and as you can see our ickle tent hasnt really got room for a fan, nor does it have a porch to shelter under the sun so you spend most of your time looking for shelter from the sun! Great fun at the water park, the best was the surf rider and that wasnt even in water!  Conor loved the tornado.  Most of the slides ye have all done before the kamikaze, the black hole the racing one where ye all go down together and stuff, the usual ones.  The weather got dull so for once an Irish person didnt get scalded alive, lobster style at a water park! By 3.30pm they "evacuated" the whole complex and everyone was told to basically get out coz it was raining and then the thunder and lightening started.  It was so loud and bright.  Cant say that about the people tho.  After being wet in a water park all day as soon as people get a towel around them they're screaming 'Oh my god the rain quick let me under a shelter' like its gonna make a diff.  So a quick dash to the car in Conors boxers (my shorts were too wet!) we drove back to see if the tent had floated away.  We barely made it the rain was unbelievable and thunder and lightening was amazing and there was so much cloud cover we couldnt see very far ahead.  A great day all in all tho.  The rain even stopped and this fab rainbow lit up the whole town it was weird as it was so dark before that.  Nothing like a hot shower and wine over dinner under a shelter in the bbq area, chatting to an english couple to warm the cockles, or cool them ...whatever.... please stop rain dancing at home people, its not our fault we have to travel the world and be in oz and sit on a beach.
