Gardening and Memorial Day Parade

Well it is June and I am pretty much hanging around the house.  Of course, I made a garden with Haley's help.  I went to the Memorial Day Parade In Northville, MI, which continues to be a charming and interesting place to live.  I sew with the Busy Bodies of Our Lady of Victory Church and say the rosary with the Rosary group on Wednesdays and Fridays.  But I planned a trip to visit Michelle Bongiorno in Hurleyville, NY so I could see more of the east during the best month for weather.  I told Kathleen I would scout for our next adventure and made a road trip plan through Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York (the back way) and back not following the same route, in true Kent Vanderbundt style.

I haven't visited Michelle in her home in 41 years.  That is to say, The first time I took a plane was to visit Michelle after a summer of apartment cleaning in Davis, CA.  I flew to Hawaii to visit her and we had monumental time from mountain climbing, to spending the day with Pop Silva drinking Primo beer and meeting Hawaiians and downing a scotch per house we visited.  We tried to buy a Toyota door in the interior of Punalu and negotiated with a guy who had had leprosy but was cleared of it enough to be able to go back to Oahu.  I learned my favorite breakfast from Michelle...fried eggs on fried rice.

Basically, those many years ago, visiting Michelle got me ready for my adventures in Palau and as an English as a Second Language teacher.  Now I am in another transformative time of my life and it seems fitting to visit Michelle and see what my next 41 years may bring me.  Michelle always seems to have good ideas and visiting her might lead me to an inspiration for my future. Or it could just be fun.  So I just read Moloka'i and it seemed a fitting present, so I loaded it with my stuff in the car, said "Keep the home fires burning," to Kathleen and Haley and started off, alone, to visit Michelle Bongiorno.

Fortunately, it is on its way. Do you like my circular travel routes that I learned from you, Mr. Kent?
