A Week in Copan
Trip Start Nov 25, 2007

Meg had been there a month when we arrived. With not much more than a dozen Spanish words in her back pocket before her departure, she is now stringing together sentences and following along in conversations! She's been a dedicated student, studying hours every day even when she doesn't have a class! She enjoyed the week off as she hung out with us but her Honduran Mom-Maritza commented on Sunday that she could see that Meg's Spanish was deteriorating with us being there
Being in Copan for the week was really wonderful for me. I was really encouraged... I realized how much we can get done in 6 weeks and how many contacts we can make. During our stay here in 2005, without setting that as our intention, we made more contacts than I realized. The reality of this showed during this past week when we constantly ran into old friends and acquaintances we had made. It was a week full of lots of visits and wonderful meals in friends' homes. When we head to Xela, connecting with people and organizations will be one of our main focuses. We want to get as familiar with the city as possible and form relationships and partnerships as much as possible.
Meg has made some great friends since her arrival and we really enjoyed meeting them as well. Anna and Andy and their daughter, Ariel are from Toronto and are such like-minded people, we were sad to say goodbye to them! We're hoping they'll make a trip to Guatemala with Meg in January so we can get to know them better.
