Volcan is so beautiful and different from Antón both in scenery and temperature. While Antón is flat, dry and brutally hot, Volcan is hilly, wet and humid. I enjoyed the most marvelous rainstorm last night here. The kind of rain that comes down so hard it actually hurts and the streets are flooded within minutes. I happen to love the rain so it made me instantly happy. Plus being in a cooler climate this week is a nice break for me.

Sunday morning: Stephanie wanted to sleep in and go to the English, so I went alone to the sign language meeting. Once there though I was welcomed with open arms and invited to sit with Stephanie's cousins. Jeremy is fascinated by my drawings and wanted to sit with me share my notebook of the watchtower study drawn in pictures. I can’t draw anything beyond a stick person so they aren’t very good, but getting the idea across of what the pictures mean and drawing a clear main point seem to be my strength. It was a lot of fun sitting with Jeremy and explaining the picture paragraphs to each other as he is a talented signer and really intelligent/ hilarious kid.

One more difference I noticed between Volcan sign language and Penonome sign language congregations is that here they have a brother read the watchtower paragraphs aloud in Spanish while someone ( in this case a sister) interprets based on what they hear. I was really proud of all her hard work because that can’t be an easy responsibility to take on. Still, I found hearing the Spanish really distracting to be honest because it made my brain want to focus on translating the Spanish to English rather than focus on sign language. It’s funny because if everything had worked out according to plan when we first got to Panama, this would have been my home congregation and the cities of  Volcan and David would have been all I would have seen of Panama, and yet due to some circumstances out of my control I ended up living in Antón and Penonomé which I like substantially more (both the Spanish and Sign congregations over there compared to here). I guess from all the bad that happened when we first arrived also came the path that lead to the greatest good to come out of Panama
