Where I stayed
Judith and Richard's
We are enjoying our visit here with Judith. Richard left Monday morning to go to Washington, DC on business, so we have not had a chance to spend much time to get to know him yet. He arrives home tonight after midnight, so it will be tomorrow before we get to spend some more time with him.
On Monday, the cable company came in to hook up wireless internet at the house so we had to wait for the guy to figure it out before we left for lunch at a nice bistro with Judith. Afterwards we went to Best Buy to get a wireless router for Judith. The other thing that we did was stop at a hardware store to find a solution for fruit flies. Judith and Richard have peach trees that they had finished picking the fruit off of just before we arrived. For some reason, the fruit flies were really bad this year and had become a problem in the kitchen even with all of the fruit away. We found some fly paper that we decorated the kitchen with, much to the horror of Judith...but it worked. We have been vigilant in capturing as many as we can over the past couple of days.
We had a quiet dinner with just the three of us. I had some updates to do on websites and we were off to bed early.
Today, we had lunch in a mall near the Plaza then while Judith went to an appointment, we took a stroll to the Plaza district. We were a bit disoriented so we just wandered. We ended up in a wonderful gallery where there were artists sculpting clay that would be eventually be bronzed. The works of art were amazing, but well out of our price range, many starting at $3600 for table-top sculptures.
After arriving home, Judith made a wonderful dinner for us and another woman that was on the Knitaly tour with Judith and I last year (Nancy Nickerson). It was great to see Nancy again and Steve really enjoyed meeting her as well. We had some great laughs chatting about dog behavior and about life in general...making major changes in your life as an older adult. Nancy had moved to Santa Fe without a job and place to live a number of years ago. She loves it here, and although she would not necessarily recommend making a change in your life the way she did, it has worked out very well for her. I think it does for most people if you can just get up the strength to get over the fear of doing it.
After dinner, Judith was not feeling very well so she went to bed and we continued our visit with Nancy for a while - as we cleaned up for Judith. Steve and I put the dogs to bed and I continued to work on website updates and did laundry.
