Where I stayed
Today we are off to the US again. We are heading to Huntsville, Alabama to visit my mother's cousin Anne and her husband Leonard. We are very much looking forward to seeing them. We will have to make one stop on the way. At the moment we have not planned how far we will get, but if we get off to as late of a start as I think will happen, we will stay where ever we are around 6:00 PM.
**We have landed...just outside of Cincinnati, Ohio (across the river) in Elanger, Kentucky. We have gone the extra, extra budget route for the night. We got one of the travel coupon books at a travel info center in Ohio. I found a coupon for an Econo Lodge where we could get a room for a total of $48.95 including tax. Can't beat that price, it is clean but certainly not luxury.
Today the drive was harrowing at times...going through several cities from Detroit to Toledo, Dayton and Cincinnati. In addition to high traffic, it seemed that every large city had construction zones that were major hassles. There were also so many 18 wheeler trucks, it is clear that Interstate 75 is a major North/South corridor trucking route.
Both Steve and I agree that Michigan should get a medal for the worst highways and roadways in the United States. Every time we have gone through Detroit area we have had to deal with roads that are so bad that it was like driving on dirt roads; dirt roads that have just been washed out by a major rain storm. We couldn't believe that as soon as we hit the Ohio border, the roads were immediately better...just like going from a dirt road to a paved road.
The most nerve racking thing that we had to do was getting off at the exit for the Hotel. Steve had to cross three lanes from left to right with traffic speeding up to get on to the Interstate. Yikes...it was like walking on a tight rope...he had inches to navigate between traffic. It was worse than trying to cross a busy road in New York City...but the great driver he is, we made it safely off the exit to the hotel.
Cocoa and Gonzo were very comfortable today in the truck. Cooca ended up sleeping on the soft cooler we purchased just before we left Halifax. Both cats seemed to know when it was time to stop, and are playing happily in the hotel room.
Steve and I ventured out (after he unhitched the trailer for the first time since leaving Halifax) to Cracker Barrel Restaurant for dinner. We had a nice homestyle meal and then went into Biggs (a super market/department store). Steve just informed me that it had 47 isles. We bought some healthy snacks for the car tomorrow...we will continue on our way to Huntsville, Alabama.
Thanks again to everyone who have sent us messages. We have not been able to answer each and everyone of you, but know that we really appreciate the messages and look forward to getting your words of encouragement.

I'm hooked
You've got me hooked. I'll be an avid reader. Don't worry if you can't write every day. You do what you want for a change and not try to please EVERY person who knows you. Take the pressure off yourself. Anyway, I had a not so good day at work because I didn't sleep well last night. Thinking about where 'the papers' are.
I spent all evening looking for the court papers from last time ex took Mike to court last July-August. I put them in a safe place. OH NOOOOOOOO!!!! NOT... A....SAFE PLACE!!!!.......What was I thinking!!!!! So, please find a prayer chain, and put me on it...because it's driving me up the wall and I'm a tad stressed about having to dig this stuff up yet again. I just try to keep remembering 'What goes around, comes around'.
Steve called tonight to tell Katrina that he's moving to Maine and visiting the girls Sunday or Monday for a day or so. That's good.
Sorry to hear that the cats didn't do as well in Windsor as they did here. They will hopefully get better as they adjust to all the changes. They're not ruined for life, but will be confused for a little while. If only our lives were as good as theirs, when you think of it. They're going to do fine when they get settled in 'Beautiful British Columbia'!!
Love Trish, &
