So I made it to Chur on Wednesday from Zermatt. I had taken the Glacier Express, which was incredible. The scenery and landscapes were picture perfect, and I took a lot of photos!
I had a hard time finding the hotel, and the heat didnt make things easier. By the time I found it, I was not in the greatest of moods- surprising isn't it! So when I got up to my dorm room, which I thought was going to be an 8 bed dorm, it turned out to be an 18 bed dorm room- you could imagine how my mood turned from a bit cranky, to super annoyed. Oh well, not much I could do, and other than that, and the insects I had as bed mates, it could have been worse... at least the showers had hot water. I ended up meeting Julia from St. Gallan, and she asked me if I wanted to watch the football game between Germany and Turkey at the stadium that night- which I did! The game was amazing, and both teams played really well. The match was sooo intense, and we were literally at the edge of our seats wondering which team would win the spot in the final on Sunday. For a while, the score was tied at 2-2 and I was certain that the game time would be extended for 30 minutes, and the possibility of a shoot out (ok I think that is a hockey term, but I am still new at this). But with only a couple of minutes left in the game, Germany made a goal, and won!!! Afterwards, Julia and I went out to a bar near the hostel for some drinks. She was so easy to talk to, and incredibly friendly. Her english was a bit rusty, but we somehow managed to have great conversations all night. We meet some people from Davos, and had a great time drinking and laughing. The bar we were at was closing, so we all went to another bar down the street for a couple of more drinks. It was a great night.
The next day, I didn't do much, as there was an intense thunder storm, which I watched from my window. The thunder was so loud, and the storm was right above us, you could feel the electricity in the air. This was a great excuse to stay in bed, read, nap, and just watch the ipod (thanks mar!). I do wish I had of made it out to visit Chur, as it was a lovely little village, and one of the oldest, continuously inhabitated places in Switzerland. I didn't go to the stadium to watch the semi-final game between Russia and Spain, but I did catch it on the big screen in the lounge. It was a boring game, and Spain managed to score 3 goals against the Russian team. This game was much different than the one from the night before. The Russian team could not keep up with Spain, and after a while it become painful to watch as the Spanish players continuously dominated the field. The morning of the 27, I got up early, and caught the morning train for Bern.
I am here now, and will be staying with Heinz and Sylvia since Sandra is not feeling well. Tonight, Heinz, Sylvia and I went out for supper at an great italian restaurant near their home. I got this awesome dish, "vitello tonato", which was a tuna dish, and soo good! Looking forward to staying with my family for the next couple of days, and of course visiting Bern.
See you all next week :)
