Yet another lazy day! Ok, so a couple of lazy days. Yesterday we did absolutely nothing. It was great. Slept in, ate, napped, that sort of thing. We did get around enough to get cleaned up and go out to the nice Italian place on the island. I had a cheesy, garlicy chicken thing; Sarah had some sort of bait stuffed with some other kind of bait. I've long believed that enough cheese and/or garlic and anything can be made edible. I now know that I was wrong. :)
Today we got up a little earlier. Sarah wanted to run back to a couple of stores on the mainland (that's so fun!), so I went and rented a kayak and told her to have fun. The camera I thought was in the trunk of the car, however, was left in the room so I have no pictures of it. It was a great time! There is a kayak trail in the wildlife refuge that I took around. Got real close to a few really pretty birds, saw an osprey eating an fish way up in a tree, but no gators. I'm beginning to think that there aren't really any gators here, it's just a fun joke for the locals...
After the kayaking/shopping we decided we needed to rest some more, so we did. Then we went and ate a great lunch at a place called the Island Cow, then went back to the room for another nap. We like napping. Myself a bit more than Sarah maybe, but I think she'll come around.
Then we went and did some more shelling/swimming for a couple of hours until sunset. Just to warn you, today's pictures are going to be shell-heavy. We were having really good luck at low tide, and most of the cool, big stuff we found was still alive, so I just took pictures.

Enjoyed reading your entries on Sanibel. My husband & I were there in June & we enjoyed it...perhaps not quite as much as you guys, though. I'm afraid I compared it (way too often) to our favorite beach destination, Jekyll Island, GA. For me, Sanibel was a little too busy...I like a more serene beach experience. Glad you enjoyed it, though, and really enjoyed reading about your experiences there. Especially your power napping! Must be a man thing...my husband did a lot of that also.
