So I've flown half a dozen times in the past 2-3 years and have never had to adhere to the 2 hour early rule for airports.  Maybe I should have known something was up when our alarm clock went off at 4am instead of 5am at the hotel.  Jessi and I arrived at the airport at 545 am with no problems.  Tried the self check in twice with no luck ("Please see an agent" is the only message I got).  After patiently waiting 15 minutes for an elderly lady at the ticket counter it was finally my turn, but to then be interrupted twice by impatient customers.  We got our tickets and rushed down the escalator to see the longest line I've ever seen in my life!  We only had 45 minutes to wade through this mess.  45 minutes became 30 minutes.  30 minutes became 20 minutes.  And finally we heard "Now final boarding to Phoenix".  I tell Jessi to rush up the line and plead our case to the security attendant.  In a panic, she jumps the line, so I quickly walk past her up the First Class security attendant and plead our case.  He quickly checks our passes and mumbles something about getting to the airport 2 hours early.  After the most intense 15 minutes of our lives, and a quick re-enactment of the family from Home Alone, we were still aboard our plane 5 minutes before take off.  Now we're in Phoenix Airport and I'm getting the stink eye, so I'm off to check to see if we can get seats next to each other.
