Well, we decided to gas up outside of San Antonio. Right now we're about 160 miles from Houston and the end of the road. We decided to hang out here for an hour or so so we can try and get around the Houston Traffic that would be waiting for us were we to press on and leave immediately. As it is we'll probably catch only the tail end of it, if at all.
Gas prices are being very favorable. I just filled up from half a tank for $2.59/gallon and it still took $40 before stopping. Perhaps acquiring a smaller vehicle would be better for my financial future. Especially if I'm commuting 30 miles a day!
It's pretty good to be back in Texas for some things (prices, gas, etc) but in other ways it's a little odd. I forgot how absolutely flat it was. Not that it's a bad thing mind you, but I'm just not used to flat. I will get used to it, though. I'm looking forward to seeing more of the country on my off hours. I'm already talking about getting a boat... you know, since people down here don't seem to think they're made of gold they are actually quite affordable.
Tomorrow I'll head into the main office and meet my new boss for the first time. Hopefully some paperwork will be signed and I can start some training while waiting the last week or so for my Texas MICP license to come through. I also look forward to being able to cook a real meal. Frankly, eating out is both expensive and it gets boring really quickly. I know Chris agrees with me!
Bye for now!
