Aiming for Boone a small collage town I was only a couple of hours away when I got distracted. The Cherokee reservation.  Apart from playing cowboys and Indians as a kid I didn't know allot of there history apart from they got hard done by.

Hard done by is an understatement.  They had a musical production that I went to that night and leaned allot.

The Cherokee people are people of the land.  These people are a people of the land.  In the first scene they explained how they grew there food off the land for which they ate, there ancestors are berried in this land so there in the trees and plants around them.  So the connection with the land is more of just a place to live.  When the white man first came the Cherokee people helped him out.  Not only by showing them how to cook and eat corn and turkey (thanks giving) but helped in the wars and early battles against the English.  After helping out so much the white man found gold in the hills for which the Cherokee lived and told them to leave and go out west to some 'really good land that we will give you'.  During this trip many of them perished.  This was called the trail of tears.  Only a handful could stay.  There is allot more to the show and some really good dancing as well.  Ever in the area be sure to have a look and stay a night.

Carrying on across the the blue ridge parkway.  Absolutely incredible ride.  Wouldn't sagest doing it in a car but on a big cruiser for sure.  As you weave from one side of the ridge to another you get to see the view of the mountains around.  No snow but they have this blue tinge about them.  There must be a look out point every two miles and after the first couple meh lets keep on riding.  With a good 3 hours of riding till I would reach Boone the place I would spend a night I really needed to freshen up.  Bingo.  ##### Falls, just what I need to freshen up and get some pride back.  With a licaty split and a towel around me I was changed and in there.  Yes at first it was cold but nothing like what it was like in Colorado, no inney this time Violet.  Anyways on the road and down to Boone just in time.  The seat was starting to feel as if it was made of rock.  Finishing the day off with a couple of beers at the local pub.  Thanks for trying Mark but still the best beer I’ve ever tasted is Speights for sure.
