The other night I had a dream that was as clear as if what happened is what I see right now in front of me.

I'm sitting in a restaurant eating when this young child comes up and stands in front of me and is staring at my camera that is sitting on the table. Then I realize that they're  looking at the Canadian flag pins I have attached to the straps. So I give them one. Next thing I realize is that the father is standing in front of me. What's so amazing about this is the father is Brad Pitt. We chat a bit and then he invites me to come join them at their table. There I meet Angelina Jolie. Next thing I see in my dream is that I'm talking to Brad in this huge house. Brad confides in me that he's quite tired from lack of sleep. Angelina likes to be close to the baby and the baby is keeping him up all night. At this time the baby is crying and Angelina can't quiet it down. So I ask if I can hold it and I quiet it down. Next thing I know Brad and Angelina are telling me that I can announce that Angelina is expecting in my blog. Then I wake up.

Now I need someone out there reading this who is an expert in dream interpretation to tell me what this means. I'm use to having dreams where I don't know the people. Having two famous Hollywood actors in a dream is a whole different story.

I drove to Galveston by the back roads. Well not quite, but I stayed off the main Interstate for the last part. In going this route I followed the coastline for about an hour and then had to take a ferry to get to Galveston, which to my surprise, is an Island. That shows how little I actually know about stuff. I've heard Glen Campbell sing about Galveston. I've heard about it in the news. But there wasn't much else that I knew about it.

When I arrived at the ferry I'm directed to a separate line for additional screening. Homeland security has randomly selected me for an in-depth search. I've been in the USA for 4 months, going from one place in the U.S. to another, and homeland security thinks there's a risk on a ferry that crosses less than a mile of water. Yes there are numerous cargo ships crossing here and heading to Houston plus the various offshore drilling rigs that cross the inlet, but setting up a security checkpoint? It was a joke. They use a mirror on a stick to look under the vehicles. Then they scan inside the vehicles a bit. Not too sure that I'd leave a bomb out in the open. They did have an issue with the propane tank in the back of my truck.

For those with good memories they will remember that when I was in Washington, DC I wrote about the U.S laws concerning propane tanks. I did get my tanks filled there then purchased an electric heater to heat up the trailer. My use of propane is limited to cooking and keeping the fridge cold when I'm travelling. One tank emptied when I was in Orlando. I'm still using the second tank. When I was about to leave the Emerald Coast for Nashville I decided I should get the empty tank filled due to the cold weather further north. I didn't want to run out completely with 2 tanks that I might not be able to get filled. The guy in Florida wouldn't fill the old tank so I went to an RV store and purchased a new tank and a new hose to connect it to the trailer. As I was getting the tank filled the guy mentioned that they weren't as strict about the new law in Alabama or Mississippi. So I kept the old tank and put it in the back of my truck. At my next stop in Alabama I asked if they filled them and they said yes but they had to tell me that they couldn't do it again. That was fine by me. So now I'm carrying a full propane tank in the back of my truck. That's how I hurt my back when I arrived in Nashville. By taking the tank out. Now I leave it in the truck all the time. Now where was I? Oh yes, the issue with the propane tank. The law says all propane containers must be attached to some kind of appliance that uses propane. I didn't have anything for the 3rd tank so the guy tells me to quickly take it out of the back of the truck and store it inside the trailer. That way the guys on the ferry wouldn't see it. So much for well thought out laws! At least some people have common sense.

On the ferry I met a guy from London Ontario. He's a prison guard from the Ontario prison system. He travels a lot. He's been all around the world. He's currently gone for a few months. Lives in his minivan. He spends the nights in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Never married. Lives with his parents when he's not travelling.  Not too sure what he does all day long. How can you spend all your time in your van? Or does he hang out in restaurants or bars? He gave me the creeps for some reason.

I find the campground, after missing  the turnoff and having to find a place to make a u-turn. I have a nice lakefront camp spot. I don't have to worry about trains these days since the only train tracks are by the harbour at the far side of the island. The campground also has one of the lowest fees I've had to pay per night. I see why. They state they have the cleanest restrooms and showers in town. If they are I would hate to see the others in town. Truth in advertising doesn't seem to matter here unless the others have extremely unsanitary facilities. There is some truth to the old adage of you get what you pay for. The restrooms and showers are quite grungy. The campground facilities are probably the worse that I've seen in 5 months.

After setting up I went for a drive through town. This place isn't that big so it didn't take long. The beach looks like it might be an awesome place when the sun is shining. It was cloudy and quite windy so it didn't look very inviting. There are numerous historical houses built on Broadway that might be interesting to tour. The historical downtown area is called the Strand District and so that could be a good place to walk around. There's the Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig & Museum anchored in the harbour that we can tour. That's on my to-do list. They also have the Lone Star Flight Museum and a Railroad Museum. Might skip those this time around. Maybe I have enough pictures of airplanes.

After my drive I stopped for supper. My waitress, Sandra, was quite talkative. Her mother passed away a week or so ago of cancer. Sandra was hoping she would have lasted a little longer. Sandra had planned to take off and do some travelling after her mother passed away. She's already purchased the trailer. She's looking for a truck now. She has a few places she wants to see. One is Albuquerque when they have their big Hot Air balloon exhibition. I asked her when that was. She said October. Guess that wasn't a sign for where I should head. Sandra also mentioned her husband had passed away last year.

That was yesterday. I spent today in the trailer. It was nice and sunny in the morning but I had a major headache. By the time that cleared up the storm was in full force. The wind has been shaking the trailer like a milkshake since lunchtime. The torrential rains came down for a while. Then the sky cleared just before it got dark. As I write this the winds have picked up again. I've been picking up various intermittent wi-fi signals all day so I was able to post the last entry, download some emails and check my facebook account. As I wrap up writing this I have no signal. So who knows when I'll post this. They are predicting nice sunny weather tomorrow, though the temperature will only be in the mid-teens.

Not knowing when I'll post next, I'll be on the road to Corpus Christi on Thursday for a few days then I'll be heading north towards San Antonio and probably Austin. Nothing is written in stone, but I doubt I'll be heading in any other direction within the next week.

Dream interpretation
I'm not an expert, but I do have a couple of books on this, so here are some thoughts:

- babies in dreams often have to do with vulnerability, innocence, curiosity with no responsibility; because it's someone else's baby it might also mean not to interfere with someone else's situation
- dreaming of actors is supposed to signify that we need to take responsibility for our actions and who we are; also might suggest a projection of who we want to be
- as for the healing part, i think it's the most interesting...because the rest of the dream seems to indicate responsibility (baby suggesting not wanting responsibility, actors suggesting you need to take responsiblity), I would hazard a guess that the healing means you have the capability to 'heal' yourself and take responsibility for your illness...dare I suggest that your mind is saying that you are preparing to end your journey and face your illness head on without relying on doctors, insurance companies, etc to solve the problem for you -- the dream suggests that you know how to heal this illness.

But then again, I am no expert...I would be interested in hearing what someone else has to say about this.

By the way, there is an expert dream interpreter/ psychologist in Calgary...if you want I can find out his name for you (used to work in Montreal with someone I know here).

Happy interpretation!
Monique
