My drive through Mississippi.

Leaving Memphis I saw the damage from last Tuesday's wind storm. Numerous signs were down and I saw a garden shed upside down in the ditch along the Interstate.

The drive to Jackson, Mississippi was uneventful. Just before arriving in Jackson I passed by   Canton. I could see in the distance on the left this huge building. There were signs saying that it was a Nissan auto plant. As I drove by I looked at my odometer. The building was at least 1 km long. When I had driven through Alabama last week I had passed a Hyundai and a Saturn plant. I should have stopped in to see if they gave tours. Now that would have been interesting.

The campground I stayed in Jackson was a State Park. It was surrounded on three sides by swamp. There were various trails that meandered through the park so once I was set up and had had lunch I took a hike. At one point the trail goes up these stairs to a Natural History Museum. As I'm arriving at the stairs this couple is coming in the opposite direction. They had been coming from the same way as me and turned around when they saw the stairs. They said "good luck" to me as I continued on towards the stairs. It was about a 5 story climb. I didn't even get tired. Which is surprising for me lately. Though, why do people give up as soon as things get a little difficult? Not just physically but in life in general! This couple might have had health issues that stopped them from climbing stairs but the reaction I got from them as we passed and the few comments that went back and forth didn't indicate that that was the problem.

After taking about 150 pictures I returned to the camper to have supper. It was nice being in this campground that was far from the Interstate. It was nice and peaceful.

I noticed tonight that one of my front teeth is cracked. I thought I had some chicken stuck in my teeth from supper and went to floss when I noticed the crack. I wear, or am suppose to wear, a night guard as   I grind my teeth when I sleep. I go through phases where I do and then don't for a while. I hadn't been wearing it much lately. I wore it a few nights ago, then didn't last night. I'm assuming that's why it's cracked. I don't remember hitting it on anything. Now I have to decide if I go see a dentist and see what they can do before it cracks completely or leave it be and get it fixed when I get back home. Decision, decisions.

I forgot to mention that when I went to Graceland I had seem something that mentioned that Elvis had this logo designed and used it later on in his career. It's TCB with a lightning bolt running through it. It stands for "Taking Care of Business". I loved it. So I bought a medal of it. I hung it up on my rear view mirror. It's actually a medal on a string that was sold to be put on a cell phone through a loop hole that's, I guess, on all cell phones. Mine does have one. I'll take a picture of it one day.

As I'm actually writing this on Saturday night while I'm in New Orleans, I am going to say Good Night as I want to head into the French Quarters for a while to check things out. See how wild the partying is on a Saturday evening during Mardi Gras. Sorry there won't be any pictures from tonight. I'm leaving my camera at the trailer. Another night. Today you get swamp pictures.

It's neat to see how, through the progression of your pictures, the angle of the sun really makes a difference in the look of the photograph. The lower the sun's angle, the sharper the images are ...

An irrelevant thought - I'm not sure I'd want to be walking through that swamp in the heat of summer ... and they say Winnipeg's mosquitoes are bad ...
