Arriving in Paradise

I know a secret and I'll let you all in on it.

Our thoughts do create our lives. The Law of Attraction is a fact just like Gravity. It took Newton to confirm that that existed. Mankind existed for many years knowing that apples fell from trees and that birds could fly but never knew why.

Flashback to 4 years ago. I’m sitting on a beach in Cape Cod having a "nothing day". Six months prior I had decided to spend the winter traveling through the USA living in my RV. My thoughts from that trip are documented in my travel blog, “Paul’s Journey to the Ends of the Earth...NOT!” that ended up being published as my first book.

On that day, watching the surfers trying to catch that perfect wave, I pondered the futility of life. We’re born, we live, we die. That’s it, that’s all. Or is it?

On that day I wrote in my travel blog that I needed an inspiring location to write my book on “The Meaning of Life”. That one day I would meet someone who would fall madly in love with me and whisk me away to their chalet in the Swiss Alps so that I could write my book.

I’m quite a distance from the Swiss Alps. There is no one who is “madly in love” with me(that I know of), but I am in an inspiring location to write my book. Not my book on The Meaning of Life, but my 12 step program on living an amazing life. Or, as I think the title will be, “The 12-Step Stairway to Heaven”.

What I’ve been noticing a lot lately is that what I wrote during that “initial” 6 month journey can be interpreted in a certain way as coming true. That’s one of the 12 steps, awareness. We need to “remember” our past, or, at least, be aware of it.

By documenting my life in these various travel blogs these past 4 years I have reminders of what I have been thinking. I don’t have to rely solely on my memory. Having a good memory also helps in realizing that I am receiving all that I have asked for. On the surface I question whether I am receiving what I have asked for. But then I have my European Motorcycle Expedition that reminds me what I need to know. On that trip, or segment of my Journey, I was reading Robert Pirsig’s “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance”. In that book he discusses the “underlying” theory in trying to define Quality.

The link between the Law of Attraction and Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance is that the Universe “interprets” our thoughts to the very root, or “underlying theory”, of what we have been thinking prior to making what we have thought occur.

We often come to the conclusion that the Law of Attraction doesn’t work because we interpret what we get according to what I will call surface thinking. We ask for a Ferrari and when we don’t get it we get frustrated. What the Universe has heard is the “underlying theory”  of what a Ferrari is, an automobile. Too often we get caught up in the details and don’t see the big picture. The Universe actually does give us all that we ask for.

This is what I wrote 4 years ago, “I have come to the conclusion that not much of my book will be written during the first part of the Journey. The blog...the taking of pictures...the travelling...and the meeting of people is the purpose here. I will require an inspiring location to actually write the book after I have returned to Calgary (my house is not it). I will meet someone, or someone will read the blog and offer me an inspiring location to write as they will know from their Life Truth that that is what they have to do; the same with funding. Someone will find the message I am communicating inspiring and will realize that it is their Life Truth to get this message out to as many people as possible.

You never know! I still have to pass through Florida, Texas and California. I could meet a Hollywood actress, have her fall madly in love with me (I have been told I'm cute), whisk me away to her chalet in Switzerland so I can write my book, then arrange to have Matthew McConaughey play me in the movie about my Journey.”

This is but a small part of what is making what is happening now, happen. I wrote other things in that blog, plus the subsequent one, and then in the early part of this one. All together my thoughts are creating my life. I see it. But it’s highly unlikely anyone else can see the link because no one else knows my thoughts that I haven’t documented.

The resort I’m staying in is isolated, inspirational, and free. Why did Nao Lee, the owner, tell me it would be free when I asked her how much she would charge on a monthly basis? The Universe knows something about the future, and probably the present, that I don’t know. Our lives are all interconnected.

I am receiving more than I asked for. The staff at the guest house and restaurant in downtown Luang Prabang are all amazing. The guest house front desk clerk asked me if it was OK if he came to the resort to chat so that he could practice his English. He’s offered to come get me at the resort and drive me into town when he is off work on his scooter. He’s arranged for a tuk-tuk driver who brings the cleaning staff to the resort to drive me for a reduced fare. Today I was planning on walking the 10 kms to town to do some grocery shopping when he showed up at the resort with the cleaning staff but came to see how I was doing and offered me a ride back to town.

The $8.00 for a return tuk-tuk ride isn’t much but I am on a tight budget until the new year. There’s no restaurant at the resort and so I need to come to town to eat a cooked meal. All that adds up. But the Universe knows exactly how much funds I need until more comes in. Life truly is easy when you realize that everything does and will fall into place.

Tomorrow night is Friday. Nao Lee and her friend Pitk are planning on coming over to the resort for a BBQ and a night of drinking. I am the only guest at the moment at the resort. There are 8 chalets along the river on the outskirts of Luang Prabang. Go back and re-read about my experience here when I stopped in back in January and met Nao Lee.

Two days ago, the day I arrived back in Asia, I went to bed early (9PM) when 15 minutes later there was a knock on the room door at the Guest House where Nao wanted me to stay the first night. It was the front desk clerk. He says Nao wanted to see me. We still hadn’t met yet since my arrival at 4PM. I get dressed and go to the restaurant. I had barely slept in 2 days with nearly 20 hours of flying in 4 airplanes since leaving Nanaimo.

Nao was there with her friend Pitk. Nao had tried setting me up with her friend back in January. I left Lao without knowing what would happen there. In February I wrote how I had met my Dream Girl in Thailand. There are missing entries about the 4 months I spent with that woman. Maybe I was wrong, or maybe I still have some lessons to learn.

Woman of my Dreams, money, and perfect health! My requests to the Universe using the Law of Attraction.

PS. Started writing this at the resort prior to my planned walk. My thoughts might be a little disjointed but I'm still suffering from jet lag. I promise an update on the past 6 months filling in what happened between my last post in Indonesia in February and now.
