Where I stayed
Ten minutes later and I go to the washroom. I notice that there is an escalator going down to the actual departure gates. Coming out of the washroom I am about to go tell the couple when I see that they are already downstairs. I go down and start chatting with Greg. He, his wife and daughter are from Toronto. He works in a bank. On vacation for a couple of weeks. We chat until the boarding call comes. They get in line first because of the stroller they have. I wait for the end. Everyone else is rushing to get in line like sheep going to slaughter
I find my seat on the plane, 11F, a window seat. Along comes Greg's wife. She says, looks like you'll be sitting together. She and her daughter have seats 11A & C, Greg has D, no one in E. We get to chat the whole hour to Phuket. What are the odds of me sitting next to the one person I chatted with in the departure lounge when there were over 200 passengers on the plane?
People, you really have to start believing in the Akashic field. We are all connected!
In Phuket and my hostel has sent a taxi to pick me up at the airport. The sign this time is correct. The driver is looking for Paul Fisette. I am staying in the Penang district of the island. This is 40 kms from the airport. We get there, check-in and I find my pre-booked dorm room. It's literally on the roof. I climb the stairway, and come up onto the roof. There are two dorm rooms located here. I go in mine and there is one person there. Daniel is a truck driver from Stockholm, Sweden. He just arrived and will be in Thailand for 2 months.
There is no air conditioning in the dorm. It feels like a sauna. I unpack a few things, then go wander down to the beach which is 3 blocks away. The street to get to the beach is filled with bars. I hear that the street becomes the Thai version of Bourbon Street in New Orleans at Mardi Gras every night.
I get to the beach and it's packed full of tourists. I'm also sweating like a pig at a corn roast. The heat and humidity is killing me. I get back to the hostel and the electricity is out. I can't even get the ceiling fan to work in the room.
I go down to the lobby which is the only place I can access the wifi and check my email. There I meet Andre. He's originally from Montreal, Canada but has worked around the world as a waiter, chef and restaurant manager. He's just arrived in Thailand looking to settle and open a restaurant or something. We chat a bit and then decide to go out for supper.
Day 1/2 in Phuket finished. I've posted the tame photos from the beach. There were many fat male Europeans in speedos and overweight women in bikinis that would traumatize the most hardy soul. Then there were the buxom blonds and brunettes who's dental floss coverings masquerading as a bathing suit photos are better suited for an X-rated porn site.
More later on my impressions of Phuket. This is what I've been asked to report on.
