Catching up on my sleep didn't go so well. Awake every couple of hours or so.

The plan of action was to take the bus to Tung Chung and take the 360 Cable Car up to the Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastery. From there I would take another bus to Tai O, on the far side of Lantau Island. Then ride the bus back to the hotel in Mui Wo.

Last night after settling into my room I went for a walk to the ferry and bus terminal. Checked out the bus schedule and cost. Maybe taking the taxi last night wasn't the best option. Would have cost me about $3.00 instead of the $25.00 that I had to pay the female version of half-pint. But then, it was still cheaper then a day at Disney for the same thrill.

Since I wasn't getting much sleep I decided to grab an 8 o'clock bus. Buses take exact change only. They get a tip. I don't have exact change. I get to the Cable Car departure building and they don't open for another 1/2 hour. Take a walk to the mall next door. Grab a coffee at McDonalds. They're packed.

Cable car isn't very busy yet. I'm all alone. Have an awesome view of the airport, or would have if there wasn't so much smog. The Cable car ride is 5.7 kms long and takes about 25 minutes. Ngong Ping Village, at the top of the Cable Car line, isn't busy at this time either, as isn't the Tian Tan Buddha statue. Walk up the steps to the Buddha. Walk inside. Come back out and meditate. By now the crowds have arrived. Walk back down and head over to the Wisdom Path.

On the way there I notice a young lady with a 3/4 length wool coat. She turns off somewhere else and I continue on my way. On the way back from seeing the Wisdom Path I run into the same woman. I go and visit the Po Lin Monastery. Incense is burning everywhere. A tour group of monks are having their picture taken in the square in front of the Big Buddha. I take a picture of them taking a picture.

I grab a cup of coffee at Starbucks in the Village and head to the bus depot at 12h20. The bus is just leaving. Oops! I mis-read the schedule. Thought the bus was leaving at 12h30. What to do for an hour? Head back into the Village. The Walking with Buddha multi-media presentation starts in 5 minutes. Guess there was a reason I missed that bus.

Get in line and I notice the same woman with the wool coat from earlier today. Talk about coincidences. NOT! The history of Buddha is not new to me. I've read the basics but am no expert. There are 4 noble truths and the 8 fold path.

That over I jump on the bus to Tai O. Another hair raising ride around twisty mountain roads. Not quite as much fun as the taxi ride in the dark with half-pint.

Tai O is described as a somewhat original chinese stilt house fishing village. I walk around for a few hours taking pictures and then grab the bus back to the hotel. I arrive around 5 PM. I decide to take a nap before supper. I wake up two hours later and do not feel like getting up. I stay in bed till the next morning.

Almost 100 pictures taken today. Unfortunately not many, if any are getting posted here. I will try and get some up as soon as possible.

Think It! Feel It! Live It! Love It!
